A product code is a useful starting point for identifying a cable family, but it does not replace the manufacturer’s datasheet. A family may contain different conductor classes, diameters, colours and sheath variants.
Record the full code. For example, the TP suffix may identify a twisted-pair member of a family. Specify the conductor size and core count separately.
Include the product code, preferred brand, core count × cross-section, length and application in your enquiry to reduce ambiguity.
